Gratitude
It's so easy to lose sight of what's truly important in
our lives. We tend to place too much focus on gossip,
what people think of us and our careers. Instead, we need to
appreciate our loved ones, family and friends. We also need to be
cognizant of the way we treat others. Kindness and compassion can
go a long way and has the potential to change one's destiny, whether
it's provided by the giver or receiver.
November is the perfect month to express gratitude and
thanks to those around us and celebrate what we've accomplished in our
lives. Whether it be the miracle of birth, a friend's new job,
marriage or encouraging words, don't let this month pass you by without
focusing on who or what's important to you. Consequently, North
Star would like to thank you all for your continued support. We
wouldn't be here without you!

November's Recipe
of the Month
Sweet Potato Pie I

Ingredients
1 (1 pound) sweet potato
Directions
Boil
sweet potato whole in skin for 40 to 50 minutes, or until done.
Run cold water over the sweet potato, and remove the skin.
Break
apart sweet potato in a bowl. Add butter, and mix well with mixer.
Stir in sugar, milk, eggs, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. Beat on
medium speed until mixture is smooth. Pour filling into an unbaked
pie crust.
Bake
at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 55 to 60 minutes, or until
knife inserted in center comes out clean. Pie will puff up like a
souffle, and then will sink down as it cools.
